“Huggable” ladies should take advantage of men’s hunger and the economic woes to attract a mate. A study published in Psychological Science showed that when men are hungry they tend to desire slightly larger women and slender girls when they’re full. Similarly, they found that when men feel “poor” they are also attracted to heftier women, SexualHealth.com reported.

Evolutionary psychologists claim that the reason behind this is that “where food is scarce, potential sires want to bank their sperm in a body that can provide for its offspring,” according to WebMD. Furthermore, scientists showed “men with fat wallets want skinny women.”

Both publications note the study conducted in lunchrooms by Dr. Leif Nelson and Evan Morrison where they asked men to describe their ideal partner before getting lunch and right after dinner. Their research revealed that the hungry men, those who filled out the questionnaire before entering the lunchroom, on average described their ideal woman as three or four pounds heavier than the men questioned after having a full meal.

To test whether wealth affected partner preference, Nelson and Morrison asked men questions about personal savings in a way that made them feel either rich or poor. Immediately after, they were asked to state their ideal partner’s body weight. Again, men who felt “poor” chose women who were about three or four pounds heavier than men who felt wealthy.

A 2003 study conducted by Terry F. Pettijohn II, a sexual attraction psychologist, showed body measurements of Playboy Playmates of the Year fluctuated with the ups and downs of the US economy.

So the way to a man’s heart is to starve him and take all his money. No wonder Al Bundy stayed with Peggy all those years.
